If you would like to have a Retro GEM installed in this console you can select the option to add it above. The additional cost is $255, that price includes the cost of the Retro GEM Basic Edition hardware, and the installation labor cost. Adding this option will increase the shipping time by 1 week. If you want to upgrade your Retro GEM to a Shiny Edition you can do that at any time through PixelFX’s website by purchasing a license upgrade.
This upgrade will be billed separately after your purchase.

Notes on SCPH-70001 Consoles and the iFlash2PS2 Adapter
The SCPH-70001 model consoles predominantly use the GH-032 model motherboard. This motherboard uses the discrete Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesizer chips instead of the smaller more power efficient and cooler running combined EE+GS chip. As a result these consoles run hotter and louder than other PS2 slim variants, and because they run hotter sometimes the HDD controller chip will overheat. This doesn’t affect gameplay while you are playing, but if you reset power on the console while it’s still hot the SD card may not be detected. You may have to wait for the PS2 to cool down for a few minutes before the SD card can be detected again. This doesn’t affect all SCPH-70001 PS2s but it does seem to be most of them in my testing. Keep this in mind if you purchase a console.
