Installation Guide for Borti4938’s N64 RGB Amp
This installation guide covers how to install Borti’s N64 RGB Amp on any N64 Motherboard with a VDC-NUS video encoder chip. This mod is not compatible with any motherboards that have a MAV-NUS or AVDC-NUS encoder chip.
Step 1:
Remove all 6 screws from the bottom of the N64 shell. You will need a 4.5mm gamebit screwdriver.
Then remove all of the screws on the shielding marked below.
Step 2:
Prepare the RGB mod by first stripping one end of the provided ribbon cable and tinning the wires.
Now solder the end of the wire that you tinned to the N64 RGB Amp
Step 3:
Remove the motherboard from the shell and flip it over so that you are looking at the back side of the motherboard.
If your motherboard has C22, R1, R14, R15 and R16 populated you will also need to remove those components as shown below.
Place the N64 RGB Amp on the pins of the AV port as shown
Then solder the amp in place.
Step 4:
Route the ribbon cable over to the vias shown below and solder them as follows.
Step 5:
Reassemble your N64 and enjoy RGB video!
